Designs that use your photograph
What happens to the photograph I upload?
On the designs that take a photograph, the thing we engrave is not your photograph. The site turns it into a black-and-white line drawing, and that drawing is what the laser cuts.
You see that drawing before you commit, because it appears in the preview. If it is not what you hoped for, upload a different photograph or choose a design that does not take one. Nothing is charged until you check out.
The result is not predictable, either. The same photograph does not always produce the same drawing, and a photograph that is dark, busy or low-resolution produces a worse one. We cannot promise a particular result in advance, which is exactly why we show you the real one.
Once you have approved the preview and paid, that drawing is the order, and it is what we cut.
Our privacy policy says what happens to the photograph you upload, who processes it and how long it is kept.
