← Every occasion

For the one person who would recognise the line

A notebook is an odd Valentine's present until you put the right thing on it, and then it outlives the flowers by about a decade. This occasion suits the private end of the catalogue. Every cover here is built around something the two of you already share, and none of them is about the day itself: a line, a place, a night, or a message small enough that nobody else will find it.

Say it quietly, or do not say it at all

The secret message cover puts one short line in the bottom corner of the back of the book, small enough that somebody has to go looking for it. There is no second text box and no shuffle button, on purpose, because a cover you can pile three more lines onto stops being a secret. If you want the words on the front, your own words takes a sentence in whichever of our faces suits it, at whatever size, in as many boxes as you need. The famous quotes cover is for borrowing a sentence instead of writing one, and every line in it is out of copyright with the name of whoever wrote it set underneath.

The night, the place, and the two names

Three of these covers turn a fact about the pair of you into a drawing. The map takes any place on earth, whether that is a city, a street, a park or a postcode, and draws it with the name and the coordinates beneath. The sky chart takes a place and a date and draws the exact night above it. The two hands cover is the one that reads least like typography: two hands with their little fingers linked, and your names lettered along the forearms in the same hand as the drawing, so the names are part of the illustration.

If a heart would be a mistake

Not everybody wants to be told they are loved on a cover they take to work. The NSFW one says the quiet part out loud and is shuffled from a bank you can type straight over; what gets engraved is not censored, only the picture of it on this site is, so the shop can be listed anywhere. The row of hearts is the opposite approach and the quietest cover on this page: one row running the full width at the foot, a name above it, and nothing else asked of anybody.

February is a short month, and nothing here is waiting on a shelf: each one is engraved after you order it, so get it ordered in the first week of the month. There is no cut-off date on this page. The carriers publish theirs each year, and one typed here would be a guess. What dispatch and delivery take is set out on Delivery and returns.
