What the engraving looks like
What does a laser engraving actually look like?
The beam changes the leather's own colour. Every colour takes the laser in its own way: on some covers the engraving comes out darker than the leather, on others lighter, and on a few it's almost black. Each preview is drawn in that colour's own engraving tone, so what you see on screen is a close match for how the notebook arrives.
The engraving is in the leather itself and catches the light. It's not ink that would sit on top.
Fine detail
Extremely fine artwork can fall below what a laser can do in leather. The site checks for that before it will sell you anything, and refuses artwork it cannot cut cleanly, so you never end up paying for a blurred cover.
